Bio
Edward was born in Littlehampton on the UK's beautiful south coast and after living there for 13 years moved with his family to live near Guildford in Surrey, and ending up living and working for 15 years around South London as an illustrator / graphic designer, eventually ending up back on the sunny beaches of Bognor Regis.. yes - the place where they sell candy floss and the famous home of Butlin's holiday camp - Edward always does things in style.
Somewhere, in between working and moving from one flat to another (about 10 in all), living and working for his i brother Matthew Bonthrone who succesfully ran the family bicycle business for 15 years, Edward managed to build a studio at his parents place in Hindhead and recorded his first critically acclamined (by his mother;) album - 'Man on the Moon'. Not to mention quickly setting up a dating agency in between inspired by the moanings and groanings of his single friends. “Goodness knows I feel like the man on the moon sometimes with the crazy ideas I get about changing the world. We in the West are blessed beyond belief with freedom and peace and my desire is to write songs that move, inspire and cause people to think about the world and ways in which we can improve life for those who don't have a great deal.”
Edward has worked with everyone from producer Clive Martin to virtuoso and legendary drummer Mike Lawn to singer songwriter Sylvia Mcewan and 101 musos in between and once daftly turned down free recording time at the ORB's London studio on hearing a single track. Now that his Internet business is flourishing "it's time to get back to what I really love and wanted to do all along which is play and compose music and sing with people who share my passion. You know I often hear music and wonder how on earth it gets heard.. and then I find out that the artist is related to such and such or has had a hand up by a friend in the music business - because the fact is, whislt I don't believe anyone can be turned into a superstar with the right backing (you need some sort of identifyable talent beit looks/musical/charisma/solid song catalogue and song writing ability - or a combination of these, I hold a belief that those of us who are not connected or fortunate enough to know the right people but have a real talent (in any field), can succeed - proving - and it's a big providing - that the music is avalable and is given some sort of push which the Intenet now allows where once it was all sown up by the industry. This explains why you seomtimes get such dishwater at the top of the charts. It's also not in the interests of music companies to go to the effort of seeking out and nuturing incredible talent since they then have to 'Top' it with the next release.
If I was a record exec I would be building and selling brands and images based on a modocom of talent which is what has been happening for 30+ years - it's a lot easier to bring in a pro songwriter and put it all together than find people who have the lot. You always get rare people in between who's natural talent is too big to contain that simply cannot fail to succeed with the right promoter like Elvis, Jackson or Hendrix - these are always innovators that record companies see have longevity. But now at least - all of us have a chance to be heard which is great news!".
Edward's recordings are featured on the 'downloads' section of this website and his latest work will be featured on here also. "I just being creative - I know it's my gifting and till now I havn't been able to use it as I've been tied up with the usual things that tie people down in life - having enouh money to paying the rent etc - so now I feel I've done my time and deserve a bit of freedom in the artistic sphere as I am sure I can produce music that is differnet and builds people up rather than tie them into some sort of identity to which they don't really belong".
